About

Stephen Foote originally trained in commercial photography at Plymouth College of Art. Whilst at Art College he became involved, as a keeen amateur diver, with the Mary Rose Project in Portsmouth.

The Mary Rose was the flagship of King Henry VIII, and sank in 1545. Stephen worked on the archaeological diving team and ultimately became the Chief Photographer on the Project in 1982, and photographed the recovery of the ships hull later that year.

In 1983 he was given a break to work in TV, and worked as a camera assistant with cameraman Tim Johnson until 1986, when he became a cameraman in his own right.

He has worked on many high profile documentary projects, both underwater and on the surface, for all the major TV networks in Great Britain, as well as many foreign broadcasters. His work has taken him all over the world, and he usually travels with a stills camera by his side.
